BT and Virgin Media could learn a trick from this ace Vodafone deal

Vodafone has slashed the price of its blisteringly-quick Superfast Broadband plans… but only for certain customers. The new deal allows existing Pay Monthly users to get a discount on their broadband plan – saving more than £50 over the course of a two-year contract. It’s a solid deal if you already use the mobile network for your smartphone plan.

Most companies save the best deals and discounts for new customers, with existing customers left to stew with the same price plan they signed-up to years ago. That's certainly true of the likes of BT and Virgin Media, which both have some staggeringly good deals on at the moment… but are reserved for new customers.

However, Vodafone is shaking things up a bit with an exclusive discount for existing Pay Monthly customers.

If you already have a monthly contract with Vodafone for your smartphone, the company will slash £2 off your monthly broadband plan. The discount applies across all of its home broadband options – Superfast 1, Superfast 2, Superfast 1 Extra, and Superfast 2 Extra. The latter two plans include an Apple TV 4K set-top box with your monthly plan, so you can stream the latest shows on Apple TV+, Netflix and Prime Video in stunning Ultra HD and HDR quality. There are also a host of games to play on the box, as well as other smart features.

Superfast 1 guarantees download speeds of 25Mbps, which is more than enough to stream the latest must-binge boxsets and movies. For reference, Netflix recommends 5Mbps for its 1080p HD streams and 25Mbps for Ultra HD quality. So, those who have purchased a new 4K telly and are looking to test every pixel might be disappointed as you could struggle to get that Ultra HD quality when a few family members are home checking social media, making video calls and more. But other than that, it should be more than enough for most people.

Superfast 2 increases that guaranteed speed to 55Mbps, which will be comfortable for busy households with multiple people looking to stream, game online, and upload their entire photo collection to the cloud in the evening. This plan also comes with a 20Mbps upload speed, which should make posting to social media and making VOIP and video calls stutter-free.

The Superfast 1 Extra and Superfast 2 Extra plans boast the same stats, except they also come with an Apple TV 4K, which start from £179 if you’re looking to buy one outright. Not only that, but you’ll also get a years subscription to Apple TV+ (usually £4.99 a month) and unlimited calls to standard UK landlines and mobiles at any time of day.

All of the above plans include a 6-month trial of F-Secure SAFE to keep your devices free from viruses. Anyone can sign-up to Vodafone home broadband, but you’ll just have to pay £2 more than the existing customer-only price below.

According to Vodafone, all customers will receive its recently-launched new router and a handy app to help control their Wi-Fi connection at home. What’s more, the company says it’s currently upgrading all of its customers’ routers with intelligent Wi-Fi which cleverly scans the home and optimises the WiFi signal to give customers the best speed based on their unique home environment.
