Part 2: Install I am Ego Kodi addon from the source
Each part is covered separately. Keep reading!
Part 1: Enabling Unknown Sources
Please remember that this is a prerequisite to installing the I am Ego addon on Kodi. The third-party addon installation is blocked by Kodi by default. Here is what we need to do:
1- After starting the Kodi application go to the upper-left corner and click the Settings button (represented by a cog icon)
It is just underneath the Kodi logo
2- When the following set of menu items appear, click System
Note: Click System Settings if you use Kodi 17.6
3- Now, click Add-ons in the left section among the items in the side menu bar
4- Press the right navigation button or right arrow key and highlight Unknown Sources. You need to check whether it is disabled or enabled. If it is switched OFF, simply click it and turn it ON
5- Go ahead and click Yes to simply dismiss this warning message. I am Ego is a safe Kodi addon. I have tested and used it personally
Your Kodi is now ready to install I am Ego addon. Let’s go to the next part.
Part 2: Install I am Ego addon on Kodi from the source
Now, all you need to do is follow these simple set of instructions and install the addon:
1- You want to be on the home window of Kodi again. From the home window, click Settings one more time as you did in the previous part
2- We will now open the option File manager on this window
3- You should now see a split screen with identical options on either side. Choose any side and open Add source
4- This is the pop-up window you must expect. Go ahead and click where you see
5- What we do now is, supply the source path. Here is the URL you need to type in: goldengunrepo.github.io/install/me/
It is a long URL. Make sure you recheck it at least once for accuracy. We need the correct path for the installation to be successful
6- Back on this popup, highlight the field where it asks you to enter the name of the source. The field is auto-populated with a name. You may go with the default name or change it to something more relevant
I am choosing the source name IAE
7- We are now going to go back to the home window of the Kodi application.
On Kodi 18.2 Leia, click Settings (image below)
On Kodi 17.6 Krypton, click Add-ons (no image)
8- On Kodi 18.2, we now click Add-ons as you see in the image below
On Kodi 17.6, we select the open box icon (no image)
9- Whether you are using Kodi 18.2 or Kodi 17.6, now choose Install from zip file
10- When this popup is displayed, click the name of the source you provided in Step 6.
It is going to be IAE in my case
11- We now install the repository by clicking the zip file
Choose the repository.goldengun-x.x.x.zip with the latest version
12- Repository will install within a minute and you will see the notification Add-on installed in the upper-right part of the screen
13- While staying on the same window, we now open Install from repository
14- Next, we open the repo we installed: goldengun
15- Go ahead and open Video add-ons
16- Scroll down a bit and click the I am Ego addon
17- Now we click the Install button in the bottom-right
18- An additional popup appears for Kodi 18 users. Dismiss it by clicking OK
19- I am Ego will now install. It may take 2-3 minutes. So, wait until the installation notification is displayed
That’s it! You have successfully installed the I am Ego Kodi addon. Enjoy!
Before you start streaming with Kodi Addons / Builds, I would like to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and Government. This means, streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, Sports) might get you into legal trouble.
Kodi users are strongly advised to connect a VPN while streaming. A VPN for Kodi will bypass ISP throttling, Government Surveillance, and geo-restriction on popular Add-ons. I always connect ExpressVPN on all my streaming devices and I suggest you do the same.
ExpressVPN is the fastest and most secure VPN. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Meaning, you can use it freely for the first 30-days and if you are not satisfied with the performance (which is highly unlikely), you can ask for the full refund.
NOTE: We do not encourage the violation of the copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.
So, before you start streaming on Kodi, here's how to get VPN protection in 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Get the ExpressVPN subscription HERE.
Step 2: Click HERE to download and install the ExpressVPN app on your device.
How to Use I am Ego Addon on Kodi: A Quick Overview
Let me give you a quick rundown of the I am Ego Kodi addon.
You may access and run the addon from the home window of Kodi. In the left menu, select (without clicking) Add-ons. Now, navigate to the right side to find I am Ego addon in the Video add-ons section.
The other way is to click Add-ons instead of just selecting it. On the window that follows, select (without clicking) Video add-ons. You will find I am Ego addon on the right
On the first run, you may encounter this ‘Updates and Information’ prompt. Press the back button to dismiss it
You will now be taken to the main window of the I am Ego Kodi addon. I am Ego is a regular on-demand video addon for Kodi users. It has the normal categories like Movies and TV Shows. However, it also has two special categories for the video content you would like to watch with your family: Family Movies and Family TV Shows
You will also find a decent collection of Documentaries at I am Ego.
The sections My Movies and My TV Shows display the content you have either marked as favorite or synced with your Trakt account.
You can browse the available content by navigating the categories. Almost every category has nested subcategories. This enables a better organization of the content. For instance, within Movies, you will find subcategories like Genres, Year, People, etc. When you open, say the Year, category, you find more subcategories like 2019, 2018, 2017, etc.
I am Ego is a straightforward on-demand, video add-on. Go ahead and start exploring it.
Fixed: No Streams Available Issue
I am Ego is finding lots of quality streams as I write this guide. However, some users have reported no or few streams. Usually, this can be fixed easily. Here are the steps:
1- From the main window of the I am Ego Kodi addon, click Scrapers Settings
2- Make sure you keep the Providers tab in the left section selected. Navigate to the right section and click Enable All Providers
3- The window will disappear and reappear within a few seconds. Click OK
When you do that, you will find more streams if you were experiencing any issues earlier.
The recent, sudden shutdown of popular repositories and addons brought us on our toes. Thankfully, we did find some good quality addons as a replacement. I am Ego is one of them. With a solid library of video content and powerful scraping capabilities, I am Ego instantly became one of our favorite Kodi addons.
Don’t expect any fancy streaming categories here. I like I am Ego for its simplicity. It makes sure I have enough free movies and shows to stream whenever I want. When I couple it with Real Debrid, it takes my streaming experience to the whole new level. I am sticking to this addon for a while I think.
