Kodi Fire Stick Install Guide – Amazon Fire TV

Fire Stick Kodi install guide below, is the easiest way to install Kodi on Amazon’s mini media player.

Before we check out the install instructions, here is some important information to help you.

What is the Amazon Fire Stick & Fire TV

The Amazon Fire TV is media boxes created, manufactured, and distributed by Amazon. It is designed to help you stream TV shows and movies through the use of apps installed on the system.

The Amazon Fire TV is optimized with a single FireOS setup by Amazon which processes video very well.

There are a few different styles of the Amazon Fire, but the most common ones are the Fire TV and the TV Stick!

Amazon Fire TV vs Android TV

Compared to an Android TV box, the Amazon Fire TV Stick has some nice advantages:

  • You can buy the Amazon Fire TV worldwide straight from Amazon.
  • You get standard warranty and support for the hardware.
  • Official IPTV apps like Sling TV and DAZN are natively supported on the Amazon Fire TV.

How to Install Kodi on Fire Stick or Fire TV

  1. Allow your Amazon box to install apps from unknown sources. If you have the new Fire Stick interface, this is found in Settings > Device > Developer Options. If you have the old interface, this is found through Settings > System > Developer options.
  2. Launch the Amazon Appstore
  3. Search for the app Downloader
  4. Install Downloader onto your device.
  5. Launch the Downloader App
  6. Click on Settings and click on Enable Javascript.
  7. Click Yes when the warning message pops up.
  8. Go back to the Home screen of the Downloader app.
  9. Click on the HTTP:// address bar and enter in the following URL: kodi.tv/download
  10. Click Go.
  11. A Javascript disabled warning may come up, just click OK.
  12. Scroll down the Kodi website that opens up and click Android.
  13. Scroll down and click on ARMV7A (32 bit).
  14. Wait for your version of Kodi to finish downloading.
  15. Scroll down and click Install to install Kodi on Fire Stick.

Congratulations, you’ve just completed the Fire Stick Kodi install instructions!

Kodi is now installed in the “Apps” folder of your Amazon Fire Stick or Amazon Fire TV.

In this step-by-step guide, I will be showing you how to use the latest Version Kodi Leia 18.4 on your firestick, the different methods of installing the app, its addons and builds. This tutorial will also work for those of you who have the Firestick TV and even the latest Firestick 4K release.

The following guide I will be showing you focuses on the installation of Kodi using the Downloader app on your firestick. This Downloader app is an installer that helps you to download and install apps on your Firestick device including Kodi.

How to Install Kodi on Fire Stick or Fire TV Method 2

  • So, the first thing to do is make sure your Firestick is powered on and connected to the internet.
  • Then you have to enable Apps from Unknown Sources since we will be installing Kodi from an Unknown source due to unavailability on the Amazon App Store.
  • On your Firestick Home Screen, hover to Settings on the top right of your screen and click on it. Then click on Device/ My Fire TV in the submenu depending on your Firestick device version.

  • Click on the Developer Options

Select Developers Option

  • Select Apps from Unknown Sources under Developer Options, to turn it On. Ignore warning pop up message and Click on Turn On.

  • Return to the Firestick Home Screen by pressing the home button for some seconds, then navigate to the magnifying glass icon and click on it to search for the Downloader app.
  • Using the onscreen keyboard, type in “Downloader” then click on it from the list just below the keyboard.

  • You’ll see an orange Downloader icon, Click on it.

  • Now click on download icon from your remote to initiate the download and installation process.

Click Download to install downloader app

  • It will take a few seconds, once it is done installing, click “Open” to launch the Downloader app. You will get a prompt for the first time opening the app “Click Allow” (older FireStick models may not see this prompt). Click Ok when you see the welcome window.
  • Make sure Home on the top-left is highlighted within the Downloader. Then click the URL field to the right and type exactly the following URL: bitly.com/kodi1804 (This link will download the latest Kodi Leia 18.4 version. If you wish to install the older version, you will need to enter different link) and click Go.

  • Now Kodi will start to download automatically. Wait for the download to finish
  • It will launch the installation screen upon successful download, Click on Install and wait while Kodi is installing.

  • Once the installation is complete, click “Done” then click “Delete” to remove the Kodi APK installation file you just downloaded to free up space on your Firestick device.
  • Click “Delete” again to confirm your action.
  • Go back to your Firestick TV Home screen, then scroll to “Your Apps & Channels” on the right and click “See All”.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and highlight Kodi, then press the “Options button” (the 3 horizontal lines) on your Firestick remote and click “Move”.
  • Using the arrows keys on your Firestick remote move Kodi shortcut to your desired position and click Ok to place it there.
  • You can now launch Kodi, but we recommend to secure your Firestick with VPN.

Hardwire Your Amazon Fire TV’s Ethernet Connection

If you have the full Amazon Fire TV with built-in Ethernet connection, make sure that you have it plugged in. Streams buffer less when you are connected directly to your home’s internet.

Best Fire Stick System Settings

By tweaking a few system settings in your Amazon Fire, you can make it a lot faster!

Below is a list of Fire Stick system settings to adjust:

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications > Manage. Turn OFF notifications for all apps you don’t care about.
  2. Go to Settings > Applications > Silk > Privacy. Turn ON “Do Not Track”.
  3. Go to Preferences > Privacy Settings and turn OFF all three options: “Device Usage Data”, “Collect App Usage Data”, and “Interest-Based Ad”.
  4. Go to Preferences > Data Monitoring and turn OFF “Data Monitoring”.

How to Update Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV Stick

Because Kodi does not exist in the official Amazon Fire Store, you need to manually update it when a new update is released.

Luckily, if you following our guide above to install Kodi on the Fire Stick, updating is much of the same process!
