Oppo will unveil its new Find X2 during an online launch event on Friday March 6 at 8.45am. The new device is the firm’s first new flagship in almost two-years and has us feverishly excited at Express.co.uk.
Ahead of the online stream, the Chinese tech giant has been teasing details about the device – with a particular emphasis on the screen. More specifically, Oppo’s Vice President and President of Global Marketing Brian Shen, recently tweeted out a picture of the display which confirms it’ll boast a 3K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The picture, emblazoned with the words “120Hz + 3K”, implies both of these features will work in tandem, unlike Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 series which forces users to decide between the highest refresh rate or display quality available.
Interestingly, a recent video shared by Oppo’s official ___ account shows the Find X2 with a hole-punch cut-out in the display for the selfie camera. This would be a very different approach to the all-screen aesthetic on the original Find X, which launched back in 2018. To achieve this, Oppo put the front-facing camera in a sliding drawer.
The image shared by Oppo suggests the Find X2 won’t tote a mechanical pop-up system for taking selfies, meaning there’s less movable parts on the device that are likely to break down the line. Shen has also suggested the new Oppo flagship will boast curved edges, but emphasised they won’t be as dramatic as a waterfall display found on Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro.
Discussing his use of a “pre-production device” that’s presumed to be the Find X2, he said: “On the pre-production device I’m using we were influenced by the ‘waterfall screen' concept you may have already seen. Similar hardware has been used, but we’ve developed the design best to fit the user, adding volume buttons and without such an extreme ‘waterfall’.”
While rumours are suggesting the Find X2 could eclipse the Galaxy S20 series in terms of display quality, don’t think the flagship will be a one-trick pony.
If Oppo’s previous handsets are anything to go by, the Find X2 will boast a highly-capable camera system and it’s even possible the firm will throw in a square periscope-style zoom lens as it did with last year’s Reno 10x Zoom. In a nutshell, this means the device could match the Galaxy S20 Ultra in terms of its zooming prowess.

Internally, the Shenzhen company has already confirmed the Find X2 will feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 processor under its bonnet and will support 5G networks. It’s also expected Oppo will throw in a generous amount of RAM and internal storage, too.
Battery-wise, we’re expecting big things from Oppo – primarily because the firm still comfortably holds the title of having the fastest-charging smartphone around. The Oppo Reno Ace comes with hugely impressive 65W wired charging that’s capable of filling up its 4,000mAh cell from empty to 100 percent in just 30 minutes.
In a recent interview with Express.co.uk, Oppo UK’s Managing Director, Kevin Cho, suggested the Find X2 could be in line to receive similar wired charging tech. You can read our full interview here.

Just as a quick reference point, Samsung’s brand spanking-new Galaxy S20 Ultra boasts 45W fast-charging, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro has 40W, and Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max has 18W wired charging.
So if you couldn’t tell, the Find X2 is looking likely to boast some of the best features on a flagship phone so far this year. We’re extremely excited for its reveal at Express.co.uk and you should be too.
Of course, we’ll be covering all of Oppo’s announcements on Friday in full.
