Nord Security has a naming strategy that seems to have been designed by someone who only owned one fridge magnet. NordVPN, NordPass, NordLocker, NordLayer, Nord Account. Put two of them side by side in a YouTube ad and plenty of people assume they are the same app wearing different hats. They are not. One protects the connection, the other protects the keys. So, NordVPN vs NordPass: what’s the difference, do you need both, and is the bundle a bargain or just a bigger basket?
Everything below was checked against Nord’s official pages on 10 October 2026. Prices change often and promotions apply, so treat the numbers as a snapshot rather than a promise.

The thirty-second version
- NordVPN is a virtual private network. It encrypts the traffic between your device and Nord’s server and swaps your IP address for the server’s. It protects you on networks you do not trust and keeps your internet provider and the café router from seeing what you open.
- NordPass is a password manager. It stores and fills strong, unique passwords and passkeys in an encrypted vault, so one leaked password does not open every account you own.
Think of a house. NordVPN is the covered walkway from your car to the front door, so nobody on the street sees what you are carrying. NordPass is the set of different keys for every door, so a burglar who copies one key does not get the whole house. You can have one without the other. Most homes would like both.

What each one cannot do
This is the part adverts tend to skip, so let me be blunt.
NordVPN cannot stop a website you use from leaking its password database. If you used that password elsewhere too, criminals try the same email and password everywhere else, and a VPN has nothing to say about it. It also does not make you anonymous once you log in to an account, and it is no excuse for piracy or dodgy IPTV. Nord’s own terms ban unlawful use, and so does common sense.
NordPass cannot hide your IP address, encrypt your browsing or make hotel Wi-Fi any less leaky. It also cannot protect a computer that is already infected, and when it refuses to autofill on a fake bank site, that refusal is the warning: no app can stop a password being pasted in by hand.
Prices compared (checked 10 October 2026)
United Kingdom, from the official NordVPN pricing page (VAT may apply) and NordPass pricing page (prices exclude VAT):
- NordVPN Basic: £2.59 a month on 2 years (£69.93 for 27 months), renewing at £104.28 a year.
- NordVPN Complete: £3.39 a month on 2 years (£91.53 for 27 months), renewing at £163.08 a year. This tier includes a password manager, plus 1 TB of encrypted cloud storage and next-gen antivirus on desktop.
- NordPass Premium: £1.09 a month on 2 years (£29.43 for 27 months); Family £1.89 a month (£51.03).
United States: NordVPN Basic $3.49 a month on 2 years ($94.23 for 27 months), Complete $4.49 ($121.23), from the official pricing page. NordPass Premium $1.39 a month on 2 years ($37.53), Family $2.49 ($67.23), as shown at checkout on 4 October 2026 and reported by Javis Review.
Eurozone (Germany, France, Italy): NordVPN Basic €3.49 a month on 2 years (€94.23) and the middle tier €4.49 (€121.23), per Les Numériques. NordPass Premium was reported at €1.29 to €1.39 a month on 2 years, net of VAT, by Toolspick in late September. Nord only shows euro prices to visitors in the eurozone, so check your own page.
The bundle question
Here is where the maths gets interesting. In the UK, NordVPN Complete costs 80p a month more than Basic on the 2-year intro price, and it includes Nord’s password manager. Nord’s own plans explainer lists that password manager as NordPass. Buying NordVPN Basic and NordPass Premium separately on 2-year deals works out at roughly £3.68 a month before VAT on NordPass, against £3.39 for Complete. So if you want both, the bundle is usually the cheaper road, and you get the cloud storage thrown in.
The small print: bundles renew at bundle prices. Complete renews at £163.08 a year in the UK, against £104.28 for Basic alone. Before you buy, check what each renewal will cost and set a reminder before the first term ends. And if you only need one thing, buy the one thing. Nobody needs 1 TB of cloud storage just because a banner was shouting.
Which one should you get?
- You reuse passwords, like most of the planet: start with NordPass. The free tier is a reasonable trial on one device. See NordPass plans.
- You live on public Wi-Fi, travel a lot or simply want your provider out of your browsing: NordVPN Basic. My hotel and public Wi-Fi guide explains what a VPN genuinely fixes there. See NordVPN plans.
- You want both: compare NordVPN Complete against buying the two separately on the day you buy, because promotions move the numbers.
- You just want faster internet: neither. Run speedtest.husham.com and talk to your broadband provider.
The short answer to “NordVPN vs NordPass” is that it is not really a versus at all. One guards the road, the other guards the keys. Pick based on the problem you actually have, read the renewal price before the intro price, and if you decide you want the full set, check the NordVPN Complete bundle or grab NordPass on its own.
Best IPTV boxes to buy
These are certified Android TV / Google TV media boxes and sticks that can run players and licensed apps from Google Play. They are not pirate hardware. They do not come with channels or playlists. I am not claiming I personally lab-tested every SKU this month.
Buy one of these when: Fire TV sideload is a hassle on your model, you want Play Store apps on a proper TV OS, or you want a dedicated player shell behind the sofa. No Fire TV device is on this shortlist.
- NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro: the premium pick, a certified Android TV player with AI upscaling, Dolby Vision/Atmos and Gigabit Ethernet for the main living-room telly. Amazon UK | Amazon US | Amazon DE | Amazon FR | Amazon IT
- Google TV Streamer 4K: solid Google TV living-room default with Ethernet, 32GB storage and Dolby Vision/Atmos. Amazon UK | Amazon US | Amazon DE | Amazon FR | Amazon IT
- Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen): Google TV box with 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6 and Dolby Vision/Atmos, the cheaper box route than the Streamer. Amazon UK | Amazon US | Amazon DE | Amazon FR | Amazon IT
- Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen): budget Google TV stick with Wi-Fi 6 and Dolby Vision/Atmos when you want HDMI-simple, not a full box. Amazon UK | Amazon US | Amazon DE | Amazon FR | Amazon IT
- Strong LEAP-NOVA: Google TV certified 4K stick on Android 14 with 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6 and Dolby Vision, for a second telly. Amazon DE | Amazon FR | Amazon IT
- MECOOL MEon1: Google TV certified 4K box with AI upscaling and 32GB storage for a dedicated player behind the sofa. Amazon UK
Still shopping for a Fire TV device? Fine for Prime Video and the Appstore universe. Not the shortlist above. And none of these boxes magically make unlicensed streams legal.
