A Spanish football league has asked the EU to put NordVPN, Proton VPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark and the Downloader app on its Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List. Here’s what that means for you: right now, nothing. Nothing is banned, VPNs are legal in the UK, and the watch list is not a court ruling.
Key dates: LaLiga’s filing is dated 10 Sep 2026. Named services can respond until 28 Oct 2026. The final list is planned for 2027.
