Vodafone TV is still an October story, and the bit that matters most for your wallet is still missing. The 3 September 2026 Vodafone press release confirms Freely, Netflix Standard with Ads, HBO Max Standard with Ads, an Android TV hub and a October window for eligible broadband, 5G Broadband and mobile customers. It does not publish the monthly TV price, installation charge or full tariff sheet. What Hi-Fi? (4 Sep 2026) and Broadband Analyst’s coverage say the same: pricing remains unconfirmed. Until that page lands, “worth it” is a question, not a verdict.
I’m writing this pack for people who already saw the Freely and ads-streamer headlines and are now asking the adult question: do I rearrange remotes and plans before Vodafone puts a number on the add-on? Short answer from me: wait for the price, then do three boring checks. Everything below is legal and official only.
What is confirmed before the price
Product shape is clearer than the bill. Vodafone supplies its own plug-in Android TV set-top. From the press notes:

Eligibility at launch is Vodafone home broadband, 5G Broadband or a mobile plan, for new and existing customers. Non-Vodafone homes are out unless they move. Vodafone also claims to be the only UK mobile network operator bundling TV with mobile and mobile broadband. That is their framing; I’m reporting the claim, not auditing every MVNO flyer.
Subscription+ is the rolling 30-day shelf for extras (Disney+, YouTube Premium, DAZN, Spotify, Prime and HBO Max tier steps). Useful if one person hates ads – still not free, and still something you cancel on purpose.
Why the missing price is the whole story
Aggregation only wins if the add-on costs less than what you already pay, or replaces chaos you actually hate. Freely alone is free on compatible Freely TVs and certified Freely devices. Netflix and HBO Max already bill many UK homes separately. If Vodafone’s TV fee lands high, you may be paying for convenience and a remote, not for content you did not already have a path to.
There is still no published £/month TV price. I will not invent a “from £X” figure. Facebook screenshots and group chats are not a tariff sheet. Wait for Vodafone’s own pricing page and order flow.
Also watch for double pay. Launch Netflix and HBO Max are ads tiers. If you already sit on ad-free Netflix or a higher HBO Max plan, do not assume the Vodafone inclusion replaces that spend overnight. Check bank and app subscriptions first. Cancel, downgrade or keep, on purpose.
Who should skip (for now)
- Anyone who needs a confirmed monthly price before switching ISP or rewriting remotes. Sensible. Price is not public yet.
- Non-Vodafone customers who were only tempted by the TV stack. Eligibility is Vodafone broadband, 5G Broadband or mobile.
- Households that assumed ad-free Netflix or HBO Max came in the box. Launch wording is Standard with Ads.
- Homes already calm on Freely (or Freeview) plus separate licensed streamer logins, with no appetite for another remote or another rolling add-on shelf.
Who it is aimed at once the tariff appears: Vodafone customers who want Freely without an aerial argument, two major streamers under one hub, Play Store escape hatches, and optional cloud games if someone still owns a Bluetooth controller. Parental PIN helps. It does not replace adult judgement on Play Store installs.
Concrete next step before October hype
- Wait for Vodafone’s October pricing page and the exact go-live wording for your plan type.
- Check eligibility – whether your current broadband, 5G Broadband or mobile SKU is listed in the order flow.
- Audit double-pay – open subscriptions and see whether you already pay for Netflix or HBO Max separately. Avoid paying twice for the same brand.

Only then decide whether the Freely-plus-ads-streamers hub is worth the remotes shuffle.
While you wait: a third-party certified Google TV or Android TV stick for official apps is a different lane from Vodafone’s bundled box. Legal players only. Bring your own licensed services.
