Short answer: on paper, the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max wins on zoom hardware, battery size and charging speed, while the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max win on availability, software support and the Apple ecosystem. The catch is that the OPPO specs below are Chinese specs and there is no UK or US price yet. You can buy the iPhone today. The OPPO, in the UK, you can only put a deposit on.

First, which OPPO are we comparing?

There is no Find X10 Pro and no Find X10 Ultra. OPPO's China line-up is the Find X10 E, the Find X10 and the Find X10 Pro Max, launched in China on 22 September 2026 and on sale there from 24 September. The Pro Max is the flagship, so it takes on both iPhones here. The plain Find X10 gets a column too, because it is the other model in OPPO's UK early bird offer.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max were announced on 9 September 2026 and went on sale on 18 September. Their early Face ID freeze bug is fixed in iOS 27.0.1, as I covered in my iPhone 18 Pro bug explainer.

Sources: OPPO specs come from OPPO China's official Find X10 Pro Max and Find X10 spec pages and product pages (translated by me from Chinese), with launch details and prices from Xinhua, Jiemian and IT Home. Apple specs come from Apple's UK spec page. UK and global OPPO specs may differ from China's. Anything unconfirmed is labelled.

Currency conversions use the European Central Bank reference rate published on 2 October 2026: 1 yuan = £0.11299 = $0.14915. They are rough guides, not UK prices. Chinese prices include 13% VAT, UK prices include 20%, and phones rarely cross borders at the exchange rate. A Dealabs leak reported by Android Headlines claims €1,499 and €1,799 for the 12GB/512GB Find X10 and Pro Max in Europe. OPPO has not confirmed it.

What the table does not tell you

Zoom is where they really split. Apple's telephoto sits at 100mm, with an 8x optical-quality crop at 200mm. OPPO's sits at 70mm, but with 200 megapixels behind it there is a lot of sensor to crop from, and the optional teleconverter kit pushes the range much further. OPPO's 20x “lossless” claim comes with its own footnote: it needs good light, it is a crop, and the figure comes from OPPO's lab. Treat any number with “lossless” in it the way you treat “unlimited” on a broadband advert.

Megapixels are not a verdict. Three 200MP cameras against three 48MP cameras looks like a knockout on a spec sheet. Photos depend on processing, colour and consistency, and I have not tested the Find X10, so I am not going to pretend otherwise. Apple's variable aperture main camera and its pro video tools (ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2) are the reasons filmmakers stay loyal. OPPO answers with 8K across every lens and support for Blackmagic Camera, according to IT Home's launch coverage.

Battery maths needs a pinch of salt. 8,000mAh is huge, but it is the China figure. If the European leak is right, UK phones get 7,150mAh, which is still big. Apple does not publish capacity, so a straight mAh fight is not possible. Apple quotes hours instead, which is convenient for Apple.

“Light Titanium” contains no titanium. OPPO's own footnote says the colour name is just a name and the body has no titanium in it. Credit to OPPO for admitting it, and a small round of applause for the marketing team who named it anyway.

Updates matter if you keep phones for years. Apple has a published UK minimum. OPPO's UK security update page pledges at least three years for phones in general, and lists the previous Find X9 Pro with security support until 28 October 2031. The Find X10 is not on that list yet. Wait for its entry before you count on the same.

Which should you buy?

  • You want a new phone this week: iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max. They are on sale now. The Find X10 is not.
  • You live in iMessage, FaceTime and an Apple Watch: iPhone. Changing phones is easy. Changing ecosystems is a hobby.
  • You shoot concerts, sport or wildlife from the cheap seats: Find X10 Pro Max, ideally with the Hasselblad Teleconverter Kit picked as your UK early bird gift.
  • Battery and charging speed are top of your list: Find X10 Pro Max on paper, with 80W wired and 50W wireless. Confirm UK battery capacity on 21 October.
  • You want the smaller phone: iPhone 18 Pro at 6.3in and 211g, or the Find X10 at 6.59in and 216g.
  • You shoot serious video: both are strong. The iPhone has the more established pro workflow. The OPPO has 8K on every lens.
  • You keep phones for five years or more: iPhone, until OPPO publishes a UK update promise for the Find X10.
  • You care most about value: do not decide yet. Pay OPPO's refundable £49 deposit, wait for the UK price on 21 October, then compare with £200 off. My guide to the OPPO Find X10 early bird deposit explains the terms and deadlines.

Where you can buy them

UK: iPhone 18 Pro from £1,199 and Pro Max from £1,299 now. Find X10 series via OPPO's UK early bird deposit (a UK-only offer), with prices due on 21 October. US: iPhone from $1,199 and $1,299. OPPO does not officially sell phones in the US. Europe: OPPO runs its own €49 deposit offers in France, Germany and Spain. China: Find X10 from 5,499 yuan and Pro Max from 6,799 yuan, on sale now.

Verdict

The iPhone 18 Pro is the safer buy, and you can have it today. The Find X10 Pro Max looks like the more adventurous camera phone, with more zoom hardware, a bigger battery and faster charging. It just has not shown up in Britain yet. For most people the sensible move is cheap: put down OPPO's refundable deposit, see the UK price, and keep the iPhone as the benchmark. Let the phones compete for your money, not the other way round.

Best IPTV boxes to buy

These are certified Android TV / Google TV media boxes and sticks that can run players and licensed apps from Google Play. They are not pirate hardware. They do not come with channels or playlists. I am not claiming I personally lab-tested every SKU this month.

Buy one of these when: Fire TV sideload is a hassle on your model, you want Play Store apps on a proper TV OS, or you want a dedicated player shell behind the sofa. No Fire TV device is on this shortlist.

Still shopping for a Fire TV device? Fine for Prime Video and the Appstore universe. Not the shortlist above. And none of these boxes magically make unlicensed streams legal.

Editor's note: specs checked against OPPO China's and Apple's official spec pages on 4 October 2026. Chinese specs translated by me. No hands-on testing of either phone is claimed.
