Thinking of buying the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, or Amazon's new 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K? If you only watch Netflix, Disney+ and the big apps, it's fine. If you want to sideload your own apps or use Kodi, it can't do it, because it runs Amazon's Vega OS instead of the Android-based Fire OS.
Quick note: the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) still runs Fire OS and can still sideload apps.
