Disney has not put out a neat UK press release about Standard With Ads. It put the important dates in the fine print under a “LAST CHANCE” banner on the Disney+ UK homepage instead. Separately, US prices for new subscribers have already moved, and existing US accounts are lining up for higher bills on cycles on or after 21 October 2026.
This is the preparation checklist — what is confirmed, what is still fuzzy, who should act before mid-October, and when you can ignore the noise. It is not the same story as our earlier piece correcting a viral US Premium graphic that was not a UK hike.

The price of the Standard With Ads 6-month saver will increase to £5.99/mo from 14/10/26. Savings compares the current price of £4.99/mo against the new Standard With Ads 6-month saver price of £5.99/mo. Based on a 6-month minimum term, subscription then auto-renews at £6.99 a month.
One soft edge worth noting: the same UK page's FAQ still describes saver renewals at the “then-current” monthly price and still lists Standard With Ads at £5.99/month. The dated £6.99 figure sits in the LAST CHANCE marketing terms. Treat £6.99 as what Disney wrote for post-saver renewals in that banner; treat a sitewide monthly flip date as not yet announced.
UK: who should care before 13 October
Act if you are new (or eligible returning), you will actually watch for several months, and you are happy with ads and a six-month minimum. Six months at £4.99 is £29.94. The same saver from 14 October is £5.99 × 6 = £35.94. That is £6 across the term — real money, not a crisis.
Skip the saver if you only want one or two months for a film or series. Rolling monthly at today's £5.99 (while it lasts) can still be cheaper than locking six months. Also skip if Disney+ is already included via Sky or another partner bill — the homepage saver is a direct Disney path.
Already subscribed month-to-month in the UK? Nothing in that LAST CHANCE text automatically moves your current bill on 14 October. UK price changes normally need an email with notice. No email yet means no confirmed hike on your account. Watch the inbox; do not panic-cancel on rumour alone.
Checklist: what to check now (10 minutes)
- Billing path. Log in on the web (disneyplus.com), open Account → Subscription. Note whether Disney bills you directly or via Apple, Google, Amazon, Sky or another partner. Partner bills often cannot take the homepage saver and may follow different notice rules.
- Plan and renewal date. Write down Standard With Ads / Standard / Premium, monthly vs annual vs saver, and the next renewal date.
- UK only — saver eligibility. If you want the £4.99 six-month Ads saver, finish sign-up by the end of 13 Oct 2026. Set a calendar reminder for the end of month six so £6.99 does not surprise you.
- US only — existing accounts. New US rates are already live for new sign-ups. If you are existing, find the first billing cycle on or after 21 Oct 2026. That is when trade reporting says the higher rate lands unless your partner plan says otherwise.
- Annual lock (optional). UK Standard (£99.90/year) and Premium (£149.90/year) still show on the Help/FAQ pricing we see today, with no announced change for those tiers. An annual plan only makes sense if you are sure you will stay a year.
Dated timeline
- Now – 13 Oct 2026 (UK): Last window for Standard With Ads 6-month saver at £4.99/mo (per homepage LAST CHANCE).
- 14 Oct 2026 (UK): That saver offer price becomes £5.99/mo.
- ~23 Sep 2026 (US): New-subscriber prices already in effect (Premium $21.49, Ads $12.49 per trade reports).
- From 21 Oct 2026 (US): Existing subscribers' higher rates apply on billing cycles on/after this date (trade reporting).
- End of your UK saver term: Auto-renew at £6.99/mo unless you cancel in time (cancellation takes effect after the minimum term).
- UK regular monthly Ads £6.99 date: Still unconfirmed.
Traps that cost money
- Six-month minimum. “Cancel anytime” on a saver still means you pay through the term.
- Partner billing. Apple/Google/Amazon/Sky can block the direct saver and hide Disney's own price page. Manage or cancel in the store you paid through.
- Mixing UK and US screenshots. A US Premium $21.49 graphic is not a UK Premium price. We already covered that mix-up separately.
- Assuming Standard and Premium UK are rising too. Not announced. Ignore speculative £16.99-style guesses until Disney publishes them.
When not to bother
- You binge for a month then cancel — a saver is the wrong product.
- Disney+ is bundled into a Sky (or similar) package you already pay for.
- You are on a UK annual plan you are happy with and have had no price-change email.
- You live outside UK/US and your local Help Centre shows different numbers — use your country's official plans page, not this UK/US checklist.
