Every few months somebody drops into the forum convinced TiviMate is finished. Listing missing on Google Play. Update won’t show. Cousin of a friend said the developer walked away. Cue panic.
I’ve heard this one before. So I checked again today instead of repeating the rumour.
No. TiviMate is not dead.
Your installed copy does not evaporate because a store page flickers. Playlists, EPG, favourites, Premium unlocks. Still there. What people are usually seeing is a distribution headache, not a funeral.
What “missing from Play Store” actually means
Google Play is a shopfront. When a listing vanishes, new installs and Play-managed updates get awkward. That is real and annoying.
It is not the same as the app being banned from your device, Premium being cancelled, or the developer deleting the project overnight. History with TiviMate and a pile of other IPTV players is the same story: listing goes, forums explode, listing comes back, everyone forgets until next time.
When I checked the Play listing today it was up again under TiviMate IPTV Player by Armobsoft FZE, with an Install button and a last store update dated 22 Jun 2026. That can change again tomorrow. The point is: do not confuse a missing shop page with a dead app.
Also: on Fire Stick, TiviMate was never an Amazon Appstore install anyway. Sideloading was always the path there. If your stick runs Fire OS and still allows unknown sources, nothing about a Play delisting suddenly bricks the app you already paid for.
Vega OS is a different conversation. If Amazon ships you a stick that blocks sideloading, the player situation is bigger than TiviMate. That is a device OS problem, not proof Armobsoft quit.
How you still update without losing your mind
In order of least drama:
Open TiviMate and use its own update check first. Plenty of people get the new build there while Play shows nothing useful.
On Android TV / Google TV, if the listing is present, update from Play. If it isn’t, don’t sit refreshing the store for an hour. The shopfront is the part that breaks first.
On Fire Stick, sideload the official APK with Downloader or a file manager. Prefer the developer’s own download path or the in-app prompt over random “TiviMate APK” sites. Modified builds are where Premium “cracks” and malware live. If a stranger’s Discord drops a ZIP with “Premium unlocked,” walk away.
If a new 5.3.x build misbehaves on your particular box, staying on a known-good version for a bit is allowed. Not every update is mandatory the night it drops. I would rather keep a stable living-room setup than chase every changelog on a Wednesday night.
Keep one clean installer copy somewhere you control. Next time Play hiccups, you are not hunting mirrors at midnight.
Premium is not “dead” either
If Premium vanished on a Fire Stick, that is usually account or device-slot drama, not Armobsoft shutting the lights off. Free a dead device slot in Companion before you assume the purchase failed. Same Google account on phone and TV. Same calm support email if needed: support@tivimate.com. Lifetime buyers panic the hardest when a slot is still tied to an old Shield in a drawer.
And no, buying a “Premium code” from a random website is not a backup plan. If Google Play cannot see the order, support usually cannot either.
Why the rumour keeps winning
Because “TiviMate is dead” fits in a thumbnail. Play Store policy friction again, sideload the update” does not.
Theres also a flood of newer players right now. Lumora, StreamVault, Trinity, TiviGlass, and friends. Some of them are genuinely interesting, especially if you want Jellyfin in the same shell as live TV. Competition is healthy. It is not a death certificate for the app people already paid lifetime for.
TiviMate is still a player only. It does not include channels. You add sources you are legally allowed to use. Same rule as always. If someone sells you “TiviMate plus full Sky package as one checkout, that is not how this software works.
I still recommend TiviMate when someone asks for a mature Android TV / Fire OS player with a proper guide, catch-up, and multi-view that doesn’t feel like a phone app stretched onto a 55-inch panel. That recommendation can sit next to reviews of newer tools without turning into a cult.
Quick reality checks before you uninstall anything
Does the app open and play a known-good playlist today? If yes, it is not dead.
Is Play missing while the APK still installs from the developer path? Distribution issue.
Did Premium vanish after a factory reset or box swap? Slot / account issue. Check Companion.
Did you buy a new Vega stick that refuses sideloading? Wrong device for this whole class of apps, not a TiviMate-specific funeral.
Are you comparing a five-year-old install to a brand-new GitHub player with flashy screenshots? Different maturity curves. Try both. Keep the one that survives a week of real evenings.
What I’d actually do this week
If TiviMate is working on your box, leave it alone until you want a feature or a bugfix.
If Play won’t update you, use the official sideload path once and keep a copy of the installer.
If you’re shopping for a second player for Jellyfin merging or a cleaner phone-to-TV Companion flow, fine. Test it beside TiviMate. Don’t uninstall your paid setup because a Discord thread said the sky fell.
And if you already paid lifetime, stop doomscrolling “is TiviMate dead threads every time Google hiccups. Check the device in front of you. That is the only verdict that matters.
Bottom line: missing store listing is not a dead app. Play drama is loud. Your living room is quieter. Trust the quieter one.
