Path-Verified Downloader Codes for Fire Stick, Fire TV and Android TV (September 2026 Update)

Downloader codes are short numeric shortcuts for the Downloader app on Fire TV, Fire Stick, Android TV and Google TV. Instead of typing a long APK URL with the on-screen keyboard, you enter something like 250931, hit Go, and Downloader resolves that number through the AFTVnews URL shortener to a download page or APK.

This is the September 2026 refresh of our living list. Every Path verified row below means the Downloader short-code still resolved to a download destination on on 8 September 2026. If another blog only copies a number with no live destination, it does not get a Path verified badge here. Codes move, files move, and Amazon’s Fire TV rules got sharper in 2026, so treat this as a checked snapshot, not a forever promise.

What Downloader codes are (and what they are not)

A Downloader code is not a magic unlock and it is not an IPTV subscription. It is a shortened link. The Downloader app by AFTVnews looks up the number, follows the redirect, and downloads whatever file or page sits on the other end.

• Legal to use the shortener: entering a code is just loading a URL.
• The app you install is a separate question: players such as TiviMate, OwnTV, StreamVault, Lumora, Kodi, VLC and SmartTube are tools. They do not ship channels or films. You add your own sources.
• Third-party movie or sports APKs vary wildly: some are actively maintained on GitHub, some sit on disposable file hosts, some go dark overnight.
• A code can “work and still be a bad idea: if it resolves to a modded APK on a random mirror, we mark it Caution or Avoid even when the redirect is alive.

How the codes work

Under the hood you are using the AFTVnews URL Shortener. Public form: go.aftvnews.com. Matching short links look like aftv.news/250931. Downloader only needs the digits.

When a developer uploads a new APK to a new URL, the old code keeps pointing at the old file unless someone updates the shortener entry. That is why “it worked last month” is not evidence it is safe or current today.

How to use a Downloader code

1. Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore (Fire TV) or Google Play (Android TV / Google TV).
2. On Fire OS, open Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options (click the device name under About seven times if Developer Options is hidden).
3. Enable Install unknown apps for Downloader only. Turn it back off when you are finished if you want a tighter setup.
4. Open Downloader. In current builds there is a numeric keypad / hash control beside the address bar.
5. Enter the code, press Go, wait for the redirect.
6. Install the APK when prompted. Delete the APK afterwards from Downloader’s delete prompt to free space.

Supported devices

• Works: Fire TV Stick / Cube / edition boxes still on Fire OS, Android TV boxes, Google TV devices (Chromecast with Google TV, many Onn / TCL / Hisense Google TV sets), Android phones and tablets.
• Does not work: new Fire TV hardware on Vega OS (no Unknown Sources, no Downloader). Check the box before you buy.
• 2026 Fire TV note: Amazon has been blocking some sideloaded apps after install. Legal open-source tools are usually fine. If an APK installs then refuses to open, people use App Cloner (6332051) or App Virtualizer (4157190) as workarounds. That is a device restriction fight, not a Downloader bug.

Start here: featured codes (September 2026)

If you only remember one number, make it 250931 (TROYPOINT Toolbox). For players and open-source tools, use the official or GitHub-backed codes first.

IPTV and media players

Streaming hubs, movies and TV apps

Provider-style hubs (Stremio, Nuvio, CloudStream, Syncler) are empty until you configure sources. Click-to-play movie APKs are higher risk and more likely to be blocked on Fire TV. Prefer GitHub or developer hosts over anonymous file mirrors.

Sports and live TV apps

Sports APKs churn constantly. If a code installs but streams are dead, the app is stale even when the shortener still works.

APK safety advice

• Prefer official sites and GitHub Releases over anonymous Gofile / random Mediafire mirrors.
• Enable Unknown Sources only for Downloader, install, then disable again if you like a tighter posture.
• Scan unfamiliar APKs with VirusTotal (code 1573361 or the website) before you install.
• A VPN is reasonable when you sideload and stream. It is not magic armour, and it will not fix a malicious APK.
• If an app asks for device admin, accessibility abuse, or SMS permissions it has no business needing on a TV stick, stop.
• Modded “Premium unlocked” clones of legitimate apps (Plex, SD Maid, etc.) are on our Avoid list even when the short code still resolves.

Troubleshooting

• Code does nothing / wrong page: retype slowly. One wrong digit fails silently.
• Install button missing: Unknown apps permission is off for Downloader.
• Storage full: delete old APKs in Downloader, clear unused apps.
• VPN error on resolve: some VPN exits block the AFTVnews shortener. Disconnect briefly, download, reconnect.
• App installs then will not open on Fire TV: likely Amazon’s third-party block. Try App Cloner / App Virtualizer, or use an Android TV / Google TV box.
• Vega OS stick: sideloading is not available. Codes cannot help. Different hardware needed.
• Stale Kodi: do not trust 483927 for 21.3. Use Toolbox or paste the official mirrors.kodi.tv 21.3 APK URL.

FAQ

What is the best Downloader code right now?

250931 for the TROYPOINT Toolbox if you want a menu. For a single tool, use the official or GitHub-backed code in the tables (SmartTube 28544, TiviMate 272483, OwnTV 4122164, VLC 837521).

Are Downloader codes legal?

Using a URL shortener is legal. Legality depends on what you install and how you use it. Players that only play your own playlists or your own media library are a different category from apps built to scrape other people’s streams.

Why do codes stop working?

The number is just a pointer. When the file moves, the host deletes it, or the developer abandons the project, the code fails or serves junk. We drop dead and suspicious entries from Working rather than pad the list.

Do I need a VPN?

Not to type a code. It is still a sensible habit for privacy and for geo-blocked developer downloads. It will not sanitise a bad APK.

FirestickHacks and Troypoint show different numbers for the same app. Which do I trust?

For this refresh we preferred destinations we could resolve, then Troypoint’s 6 September 2026 list when both disagreed, then official developer codes when those exist (SmartTube is the clearest example).

Can I use these on Google TV?

Yes, if you can install Downloader and allow installs from that source. The codes are the same. The Unknown Sources toggle lives under the devices security / app install settings instead of Fire TV’s Developer Options path.
