How to Convert Your Router to 5G (or 6G) for UK Broadband Providers

Logging into Your Router

Before you can change your Wi-Fi settings, you need to log in to your router. Follow these general steps:

  1. Determine Your Router’s IP Address:Most routers use default IP addresses like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. Check your router’s manual if these do not work.
  2. Open Your Web Browser:Type the router’s IP address into the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Enter Your Credentials:If you haven’t changed them, common defaults are admin/admin or admin/password. For security, many providers now assign unique credentials; refer to the documentation provided by your ISP.
  4. Access Wireless Settings:Once logged in, navigate to the Wireless or Wi-Fi settings section to begin configuring your network bands.

If you have difficulty logging in, contact your provider’s customer support for help.
