£114.95. Google-certified Android TV 14. Amlogic S905X5M, 4GB/64GB, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, Dolby Atmos. On paper the RockTek G2 Next looks like the tidy UK living-room box people keep asking for when a Fire Stick starts fighting them.
Then you open the DROIX UK listing on the evening of 14 September 2026 and it says Out of stock. Sold out. Not taking backorders. Mid-September ETA talk from an earlier DROIX blog comment meets an empty basket button.
I have not had one on my desk. This is retailer claims plus a third-party spec cross-check, not a hands-on lab review. If you need a box tonight, skip the wishlist and read the Amazon shortlist below.
What DROIX is actually selling (when it has stock)
From the live DROIX UK product page (fetched 14 Sep 2026 evening):
- Price: £114.95 inc VAT, UK warehouse shipping story (no surprise import fees for UK addresses, per seller copy).
- Availability: Out of stock / sold out. Explicit line: not taking backorders.
- Platform: Google TV / Android TV 14, Google-certified lane on DROIX’s own framing.
- Chipset: Amlogic S905X5M, Mali-G310 V2, 4GB LPDDR4, 64GB eMMC.
- Network / ports (seller list): Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Gigabit Ethernet RJ45, HDMI 2.1, USB expansion, Dolby Atmos support flagged true.
- HDR (seller Q&A, not my meter): Support team answered that HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision are supported on compatible displays/content. Treat that as retailer answer, not a lab certificate from me.
Android TV Guide lines up the same core: S905X5M, 4GB/64GB, Android TV 14, AV1, Dolby Vision & Atmos, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet. Useful as a second sheet. Still not a substitute for living with the remote for a week.
DROIX’s English blog post on the G2 Next pre-order (updated early September) had a public comment reply that stock was expected around mid-September, with a pre-order link. See the DROIX blog piece.
Today’s UK product page is past that soft ETA and still empty. So either stock landed and vanished, or the mid-Sep window slipped. Either way: wishlist emails are not a box under your telly. Pre-order chat from July/August does not override an OutOfStock schema offer on the live listing.
Single-retailer risk is real here. If DROIX is your only UK front door for G2 Next, you are tied to their restock timing and their warranty path. That is fine for patient buyers. Terrible if Saturday night football needs a working player shell by Friday.
Who should wait for G2 Next
- You specifically want a certified Android TV / Google TV box with Ethernet and USB, not another HDMI stick.
- You can keep watching on what you already own for another few weeks.
- You are happy buying from DROIX when the button flips back, and you accept you have not seen independent long-term UK reviews of this exact SKU yet.
- You care about the newer S905X5M / Mali-G310 V2 step vs older RockTek G2 listings, and you are not in a rush.
Who should ignore the sold-out hype and buy something else now
- You need a working certified player this week. Sold out means sold out.
- You only want Netflix, iPlayer, YouTube, Disney+. Any decent Google TV stick or Streamer will do. Spec hunting is theatre.
- You were hoping this box arrives “fully loaded.” Wrong site. Boxes run players and licensed apps. No playlist selling here.
- You refuse to buy from a specialist UK retailer and only shop Amazon Prime next-day. G2 Next may not even be on Amazon UK yet. The current-gen RockTek G2 ASIN is in the list below as a related option, not as “same as Next.”
Cost and time tradeoffs (pragmatic bit)
£114.95 for G2 Next when it returns is roughly Streamer / mid box money. Waiting costs you calendar days, not free. Buying Google TV Streamer, Strong LEAP-AIR, or a Xiaomi stick from Amazon UK tonight costs cash now and ends the “is DROIX restocked yet” tab refresh.

Open the DROIX G2 Next page. If it is still Out of stock and you need a box this week, pick one Amazon UK certified device above and order it. If you can wait, use DROIX’s stock alert and keep your current stick running. When stock returns, buy it as a player shell for licensed apps and official media players. Nothing else.
Sold out is information. Spec sheets are promises. Buy for the week you actually need the HDMI socket filled.
