I keep a mental list of “telco TV promises” that arrive with a bang and then sit half-finished in a settings menu for months. So when VodafoneThree put out a proper press release on 3 September 2026 about Vodafone TV, I actually read the footnotes. Ads tiers named. Freely named. Companion app caveats named. Pricing for the TV package itself? Still not in the release. That gap matters, and I’ll keep saying so.
Here’s the short version of what is confirmed: from October, new and existing Vodafone customers on home broadband, 5G Broadband or a mobile plan get access to Vodafone TV. The hub bundles Freely live TV, Netflix and HBO Max (ads Standard tiers, per the press note), cloud games, Google Play apps, and a companion app so some shows can leave the sofa with you. Advanced Television covered the same launch day. I’m sticking to those two sources until a public pricing page shows up.
What Vodafone actually announced
The pitch is aggregation, not another lonely streaming app. One plug-in Android TV box. One interface for live, on-demand, streaming, games and music. Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, called it a family entertainment platform rather than “just TV”, and the press quotes lean hard on discovery: AI Smart Search, Google Assistant, personalised recommendations tied to a profile.
At launch, the company says Vodafone TV will:
- Include Netflix Standard with Ads and HBO Max Standard with Ads (that pairing is in the footnotes, not buried marketing fluff)
- Ship with Freely built in: over 70 live channels plus thousands of hours on demand from BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and more, no dish or aerial
- Point to an additional 150+ live channels in the launch bullets
- Offer 300+ cloud games, playable on a phone or with a Bluetooth controller
- Let you rent or buy films through Vodafone Box Office
- Open the Google Play Store for thousands of apps
- Add Disney+, YouTube Premium, DAZN, Spotify and Prime via Vodafone Subscription+ on a 30-day rolling basis
- Use parental controls behind a Master PIN
That Freely piece is the quiet big deal for renters and flats without a tidy aerial. Internet-delivered PSB catch-up and live in one glass. If you’ve been bouncing between free catch-up apps on sticks and smart TVs, the direction of travel is familiar. The box itself: small, but not vague on specs
Vodafone is pushing a plug-in set-top rather than a stick-only story. Confirmed hardware notes from the release:

- 4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos (performance on selected content, per the footnotes)
- 3GB RAM and 32GB storage
That’s enough to make navigation and cloud gaming feel intentional, not like a bargain stick gasping for RAM. I’m not going to invent Wi-Fi chipset names or remote layouts. Those details weren’t in the launch pack I used. Expect the usual Android TV remote dance, Google Assistant on tap, and Play Store installs for the odds and ends you already trust.

Companion app and watching away from home
This is the bit that made me sit up. Vodafone TV comes with a companion app so you can start something at home and continue on the move. Profiles, recommendations, favourites and gameplay are meant to mirror across devices. The press footnote is blunt: selected content. So don’t assume every Freely live channel or every Box Office rental travels with you. Treat “continue watching” as a feature with a short list until Vodafone publishes the fine print.
There’s also an optional pairing story with Vodafone SuperMobile and the new 5G+ FastTrack pitch for streaming out of the house. The press claim, with caveats in the notes, is up to 4x faster speeds in high demand areas versus Vodafone’s standard plans, with network prioritisation language and a data figure in the footnotes. I’m not stretching that into a nationwide speed guarantee. If you buy SuperMobile, read the plan terms. If you don’t, the companion app still exists; the FastTrack boost is the optional turbo, not the whole product.
Subscription+: the add-ons rack
Launch includes Netflix and HBO Max ads Standards. Want more? Subscription+ is the rolling 30-day shelf for Disney+, YouTube Premium, DAZN, Spotify and Prime. The same platform can also add other HBO Max tiers: Basic with Ads, Standard with Ads, Standard, and Premium. That flexibility is useful if your household argues about ads every Sunday night.
What I will not do is invent a Vodafone TV monthly price. The 3 September press release does not state one. Advanced Television’s write-up of the same launch doesn’t fill that gap with an official figure either. Until a shop page or tariff sheet lands, any “it’ll be £X” claim in a random blog comment is guesswork. Ask Vodafone’s site, not a screenshot from a Facebook group.

Who can get it, and the “only MNO” claim
Availability is October for new and existing Vodafone customers with home broadband, 5G Broadband or a mobile plan. Vodafone says that makes it the only UK mobile network operator bundling TV with mobile and mobile broadband. That’s their competitive framing. I’m reporting it as a company claim, not an independent league table I audited against every MVNO offer on the high street.
Practical takeaway if you’re already on Vodafone broadband or mobile: watch your account messages and the news centre for the October go-live, plan names, and any broadband-speed prerequisites. If you’re on another ISP and only hold a Vodafone SIM, the press wording still lists mobile plans as eligible. Exact SKUs and any contract length rules? Not in the release I used. Unknown until the order flow appears.

Who this is actually for
If your living room already looks like a streaming buffet (four remotes, three passwords, one child who somehow only finds the app with ads), Vodafone’s aggregation pitch is aimed at you. Freely removes the aerial argument. Ads-tier Netflix and HBO Max remove two separate sign-ups from the “what’s included” chat, assuming the tariff lands somewhere sensible. Cloud games are a nice bonus if someone in the house still owns a Bluetooth controller and an opinion about racing titles.
If you already own a polished Google TV Streamer or Fire Stick setup and you’re happy managing Subscriptions yourself, this is optional. Android TV under the hood means the box isn’t a closed cable museum. It also means you’ll still meet the usual Google account prompts. Parental Master PIN helps. It does not replace adult supervision of Play Store installs.
Winterschladen’s line about bringing live, on-demand, streaming, gaming, music and Play Store apps together is the whole thesis. Paolo Pescatore’s analyst quote in the same release pushes the industry angle: freer-to-air plus premium streaming in one place, aerial optional. Fair enough. The UK has been inching that way for years. Vodafone just put an October date and a box spec sheet on it.
I’ll update when the pricing page and channel list are public. Until then: October, Freely, ads-tier Netflix and HBO Max, Android TV box with 4K and Dolby on selected content, companion app with selected-content caveats, Subscription+ for the rest. That’s the confirmed pack. Everything else can wait for a receipt.
